Constructing a dam requires a great deal of effort, they are a barrier meant to hold back torrents of water from either a lake or river. They are usually built using concrete or natural materials such as earth or rock. They are inspired by the engineering innovations of small furry forest creatures.
Designed for nondesert climates and specifically for dealing with large areas of people, a quicksand golem loses its blistering sand blast attack. Instead, every 1d6 rounds the golem can create a 10-foot-square area of quicksand within 50 feet of itself. The quicksand golem can create quicksand only in natural, unworked terrain, and created patches of quicksand remain active for 10 minutes before vanishing. Creatures still stuck in the quicksand after this duration are immediately shunted to the normal surface of the terrain in which the quicksand was created. The quicksand golem can maintain only three active patches of quicksand at a time. A quicksand golem costs an additional 2,500 gp to create.
Quicksand Torrent
Earlier this week we posted about the Public Domain torrent site. This site offers an extensive collection of Classic and B-Movie torrents. The copyright of these movies has expired so you are free to share them. Not much later this story was posted on digg.com, and some of the torrents are getting pretty popular.
Unfortunately not everybody knows every movie listed, so you probably want to check some extra info on IMDB. To make your life a little easier, skender wrote a script to list all the movies on publicdomaintorrents by their IMDB rating.
I guess the weather is hot and it is "rainy season" but does this affect this desert area very often? I would love to hike up one of the dunes just after sunrise but would rather not be surfing on a torrent of newly formed quicksand! I would also like to visit Swakopmund and the skeleton coast, and the same question applies really. Would it be worth postponing a Namibian trip for the Autumn / Winter months and just go somewhere else next January!

No engineers had tunneled under a major river, and the Thames was an especially tricky river. To the north, London was built on a solid bed of clay, ideal tunneling material. To the south and east, however, lay deeper strata of water-bearing sand, gravel and oozing quicksand, all broken up by layers of gravel, silt, petrified trees and the debris of ancient oyster beds. The ground was semi-liquid, and at depth it became highly pressurized, threatening to burst into any construction site.
Nevertheless, the Cornishmen made progress, and by January 1808 Trevithick reported that his drift was within 140 feet of the north bank of the Thames and that the pilot tunnel would be completed in a fortnight.
